  • My boss changes the amount of claimed tips - is that legal?
I work as a waitress in the state of New Jersey. At the end of the night you have to enter the amount of tips you earned into the computer. I recently found out that my boss is going behind everyone's back and without their knowledge changing the amount of tips claimed. I was wondering if this is at all legal? Last year I earned the IRS $800 and barely cleared $20,000 it seems excessive, and the worse part is I don't know how much she is claiming. Can you PLEASE help me, is that legal?

  • Will I HAVE to work till the day I DIE ?
I continue to see an homogenization of the global work force , manufacturing shifts globally and even political shifts away from " THE HAVE NOT " in this country . My question is after working all my life and trying to keep up with the inflation caused by " THE HAVE " , will I HAVE to work till the day I DIE?

  • Am I underpaid and if so, should I change my career?
I am a regional manager for a rental car agency. I currently am paid 47,500 per year plus 5% commission based on profit. I have benefits which include company matched 1/2 to 6% stock options and 3 weeks paid vacation, 5 paid sick days, 5 paid holidays. Company car with expense account for fuel. I travel 30% of the time to two different states and four locations.

  • How can I ask for a raise when I know I have earned one, but my small business is doing badly?
At this small design company I am the only employee who sees the owner's finances and I know how dire the situation is. However I have taken on more and more responsibility over the last year of my three year employment, and feel like the value I give the company is much beyond my earnings. If I didn't know about the finances, I'd definitely have already asked for a raise.
