On January 1st of next year, San Francisco will make history. The city will become the first location in the U.S. to have a minimum wage higher than $10. Minimum wage workers in 8 states could see their paychecks grow starting January 2012 thanks to the automatic annual increase based on the inflation rate. In addition to the 8 states above only Nevada is expected to announce an adjustment in rates coming weeks. Missouri announced in October that the state's minimum wage will stay at $7.25 in 2012.
